Frequently Asked Questions
Will walking on my roof to remove moss and clean the gutters damage the roof?
Absolutely not. Prior to the start of our services the technician inspects the roof for pre-existing damage and to ensure it is in weight-bearing condition. Allowing moss and debris to accumulate on the roof will cause more damage than a person walking cautiously across it
Do you offer an automated service program or recurring maintenance schedule?
Yes, we are happy to schedule customers for automated services acccording to the schedule they prefer
Do you pressure wash roofs?
No, Peakwalker will never use a pressure washer on a composition shingle roof. This voids the warranty of the roof in addition to stripping off more material than is necessary to remove moss and algae
How do you remove moss from the roof?
For asphalt roofs, composition shingle roofs, and concrete tile roofs the moss clumps are removed using a brush with stiff bristles. The debris is then blown away, the gutters cleaned, and an environmentally safe treatment is applied to all roof surfaces. A full ground cleanup follows. How often should moss on a roof be treated?
Moss shares the same unfortunate attribute as garden weeds in that neither are ever really gone for good. After moss has been removed it can take up to 30 days for the effects of the moss treatment to fully become evident. Following that, it is recommended that a roof be treated at least once a year. Peakwalker guarantees no new moss growth for up to 6 months following a Roof Moss Removal service
What moss treatments do you use on the roof?
Peakwalker applies either a granular or liquid treatment, depending on the roof. Both products are EPA approved and are the most environmentally friendly products that are also effective. We are happy to share the relevant safety data sheets with customers who are interested
How do you clean gutters?
Ladders are set by positioning stabilizer bars on the roof so the ladder never makes contact with the gutters. A commercial grade blower is used to clear debris from the gutters and clean the inside down to the bare metal. Downspouts are carefully inspected and will be cleared if any clogs are found between the roof and the ground. Total clean-up of all debris completes the service. How often should gutters be cleaned?
This depends on a number of factors, such as the amount of tree cover around the property and roof exfoliation. For properties with extensive tree cover from conifers, such as Doug Fir and Pine trees, it is not uncommon for the gutters to fill with needles and cones year round and require as many as 3 or 4 annual Gutter Services to consistently keep clear. For properties with more deciduous tree cover, such as Oaks, Maples, & Mimosas, it is typically appropriate to clean the gutters twice a year: once in the spring after leaf petals drop and once again in autumn after the leaves fall. Some composition roofs shed more asphalt granules than others and this material builds into a sludge that can cause major downspout clogs over time. In these situations, cleaning the gutters twice a year helps this sludge from growing too thick so that normal rain flow will wash the granules away
How do you accept payment?
All major credit cards are accepted, as is cash or check. Credit card information is collected at the time of scheduling, but no charges are made until AFTER completion of services. A receipt is then emailed to the email address you provide. Payment can also be accepted in person at the time of service

Are you insured?
Yes, Peakwalker has general liability insurance
How do you prevent from falling off a roof?
All rooftop work is done using extensive fall protection equipment in accordance with OSHA regulations. Ropes and harnesses are used with anchoring techniques that leave no lasting alterations to the roof. All company ladders ae equipped with leg-levelers and stabilizer bars that keep them level and securely in place while work is performed
Does anyone need to be present at the property during the service?
No, for any services being done on the exterior of a property no one needs to be home. All locking gates on the property must be unlocked on the date of the service. Credit card information is collected at the time of scheduling services and cards are only charged AFTER the completion of services. If you are paying by cash or check, payment is due at the time and property location of the scheduled services
Do you install gutter protection?
There are only a couple gutter protection products on the market that Peakwalker has seen to be marginally effective. The truth is, none of them work optimally without regular maintenance. Installing gutter protection depends on the situation and it is not a service we normally offer
